A bit about me...
Hello! My name is Tracy Ripley I am mum to two grown up boys and also a grandma to two boys! I started my journey into my current role by training to become a Holistic Therapist way back in 1992 I have practiced Aromatherapy and Reflexology holistically since then on a self-employed basis. I always had a passion for working with pregnant women and found myself applying for a Midwifery Degree course at the University of Huddersfield I was fortunate enough to get through rigorous interviews and secured a place, I loved my time learning and reading plus the hands on work of a Student Midwife. Once qualified I worked on Labour wards, Antenatal day Units, Antenatal Clinics, Post-natal wards (high and low dependency) I have supported women having elective/emergency caesarean sections, physiological/assisted births both at home and in the hospital I have worked in Community too supporting women through pregnancy, at home births and again post-nataly.
Later I made the decision to extend my training and returned to University to complete my Specialist Community Public Health Nurse Training and Prescribing (V150) and went on to practice as a Health Visitor supporting families with children 0-5.
I have always supported a ‘social’ model of midwifery promoting physiological birth, information, choice and autonomy for women and their partners however I do recognise that in some situations and for some individuals a more medical approach to birth is needed or chosen and this should, equally should be respected and supported.
I am now an independent and self-employed Birth-worker and Therapist offering professional and bespoke services I combine specialist skills to support women preparing for birth and beyond including Maternity/Post-dates Reflexology, Aromatherapy in pregnancy and labour, traditional holistic feminine wellbeing during the Fourth trimester and MAM Rewind Technique for those who feel they have experienced trauma and are ready to process and work to release themselves.
I run two voluntary groups in my locality a Post- natal drop in for babies up to one year and a Positive Birth Movement Group whose aims are to support women and their partners in their knowledge base and choices. I take part as a service user in Maternity Voices Partnership for my local Trust.
My philosophy is to offer my clients impartial, quality information upon which choices can be made and continuity from a trusted advocate and holistic supporter throughout their pregnancy, birth and parenthood journey.
